Carter County Man Arrested on Felony Sexual Abuse Charges

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police have arrested a Carter County resident after receiving a report of inappropriate sexual contact and interactions with three juvenile females.

On November 1, 2013 The Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland received a report of sexual abuse involving a fourteen year old female. The initial report stated Christopher R. Shaffer provided three juvenile females with alcohol and illegal drugs then sexually abused one of the females. It was reported the abuse occurred at a residence on Damron Mayo Road in Carter County.

(At this time no additional details on the relationship between the three juveniles and Mr. Shaffer will be released in an effort to protect the victims in the investigation.)

On November 2, 2013 an interview was conducted with Christopher R. Shaffer and it was revealed that sexual contact (touching in a sexual manner) had occurred between Mr. Shaffer and the fourteen year old female juvenile. During the course of the investigation it was determined Mr. Shaffer had provided illegal drugs and alcohol to the victim and two additional juvenile females.

On November 2, 2013 Christopher R. Shaffer, age 40, of Grayson KY, was arrested lodged in the Carter County Detention Center and charged with:

Sexual Abuse 1st Degree
Sodomy 1st Degree
Unlawful Transaction with A Minor 2nd Degree
