***Update*** Oil Tank Explosion Leaves Clinton County Man Injured

(Albany, Ky.) -- 61-year-old Kenneth E. Brown took a positive step towards recovery on Wednesday, May 2nd when the ventilator was removed and he began breathing on his own. Brown is still being treated at the Critical Burn Unit at Vanderbilt University Hospital.

Oil Tank Explosion Leaves Clinton County Man Injured

(Albany, Ky.) -- Post 15 Arson Detective Alex Wesley is investigating the explosion of an oil tank that occurred in the limits of Albany, KY today (04/25/2013) at 12:15 PM CST. 60-year-old Kenneth E. Brown of Albany was performing maintenance on a 42 gallon 210 barrel oil tank when the grinder and welder sparked, causing the fumes to ignite and leading to the explosion. Brown suffered severe burns and was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Lake Cumberland Head Start and Lee's Recipe Restaurant were evacuated as a precautionary measure but no other injuries were reported. The State Fire Marshall and Albany Fire Department assisted and the EPA was notified.
