Teenager Killed in a Collision on KY 1680 in Russell County

(Jamestown, KY.) - Trooper Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred today at approximately 3:00 PM CST, 6.5 miles south of Jamestown on KY 1680. 18-year-old Jesus Martinez was traveling south on KY 1680, operating a 2001 Ford when he lost control of the vehicle in a curve due to wet conditions. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. A passenger, 13-year-old Matthew Merideth of Jamestown, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Russell County Coroner. Both occupants were wearing seatbelt. Martinez was transported to the Russell County Hospital where he was treated and released. Trooper Likins was assisted at the scene by the Jamestown Fire Department, Russell County EMS and the Russell County Sheriff's Department.
