KSP involved in vehicle pursuit

(Almo, KY.) -- On June 19, 2013, at approximately 6:30 p.m, Sgt. Ryan Dawson observed a silver Chevrolet Silverado traveling North on Radio Road at a high rate of speed. When Sgt. Dawson attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused and turned onto Sunset Drive, crossing US 641 to Ingram Lane. When the operator of the vehicle attempted to enter a gravel pit, he lost control of his vehicle and spun out and his path was ultimately blocked by Sgt. Dawson's vehicle. The driver fled on foot from the moving vehicle which struck Sgt. Dawson's vehicle and came to rest. Sgt. Dawson pursued the suspect for approximately 3/4 of a mile on foot before losing sight of the subject, who he was able to identify as the owner of the vehicle.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2013, the operator of the vehicle, Cole Salyer, age 29, of Almo, KY, turned himself in to Kentucky State Police. Mr. Salyer was transported to Calloway County Detention Center where he was lodged on charges of; Fleeing/Or Evading Police 1st Degree, Fleeing/Or Evading Police 2nd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree-Police Officer, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Speeding, Reckless Driving, Disregarding a Stop Sign, Failure to/or Improper Signal.

Kentucky State Police were assisted on scene by Murray Police Department, Calloway County Sheriffs Office and Murray-Calloway EMS.
