Paducah Man Killed in a Collision on SR1241 in Graves County

(Hickory, KY) - Mr. Jack Garland was traveling west on SR408 East when he approached the intersection at SR1241. After the vehicle came to a complete stop, he proceeded threw the intersection. Mr. Jackson Sanderson, who was traveling north on SR1214, crested a hill at the same intersection. The two vehicles collided, trapping Mr. Garland inside his vehicle. Mr. Sanderson vehicle came to rest in a gravel drive. Mr. Garland's vehicle continued to travel across the intersection after the initial collision, and came to rest in a wood line. Mrs. Nancy Thurston, who was a passenger with Mr. Garland, had initially refused treatment; however she later drove herself to Lourdes Emergency Room for her injuries. Along with Mr. Sanderson, there was a 17 year old passenger who sustained no injuries. Mr. Garland was flown by Air Evac, to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:51p.m. The investigation continues by Trooper James Martin.
The Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Graves County Sheriff's Department, Mayfield EMS, Mayfield Fire Department, and Air Evac Lifeteam.
