(Bowling Green, KY) -- April 14-20 is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. During this time, Kentucky State Police dispatchers at Post 3 in Bowling Green will join more than 200,000 fellow communicators throughout the United States being recognized for their long hours and dedication to public safety.

Post 3 has 17 telecommunicators on staff; who handle calls in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson, and Warren counties. Last year, Post 3 responded to 70,408 calls.

"Throughout the state, KSP telecommunicators are the ':heroes behind the headsets': who provide a lifeline to both citizens in need and officers in the field," says KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer. "They serve as an unseen, but vital link in keeping law enforcement officers and the public safe at all times of the day or night. They work odd hours, make personal sacrifices, handle a huge amount of stress and are ready and willing to help at a momentís notice. They deserve a well-earned salute for their dedication and service to the Kentucky State Police and the citizens of the Commonwealth."

"The telecommucicators at Post 3 are the lifeline to the Troopers and/or officers that you see out on the road every day. They work 24/7 365 days a year.
