Adolphus Man Killed in a Collision on KY 100

(Bowling Green, KY) -- On November 7, 2013 at 9:48 P.M.. Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a call from the Allen County Sheriff's Office requesting assistance with a single vehicle fatality collision on KY 100 in Allen County, KY. Sergeant Tucker Carmichael along with Troopers Shae Foley and Graham Rutherford arrived at the scene and located a severely-damaged 2005 Grand Cherokee that had come to final rest in the roadway. James A. Stotts (36)of Adolphus, KY was traveling southbound on KY 100 before veering off of the right shoulder of the roadway. Stotts' Jeep then over-corrected, traveled across the south and north lanes of the road, and entered a ditch line before overturning. Stotts was ejected from the vehicle and was found in the roadway by a passersby.
James Stotts was pronounced dead at the scene by Allen County Coroner Darren Davis. Stotts was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Allen County Sheriff's Office, the Simpson County Sheriff's Office and the Stoney Point Fire Department. An autopsy will not performed and Stotts' toxicology is pending.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by Trooper Shae Foley.
