6-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Being Ejected From Vehicle In Hardin County Crash

Date of News Release: 06/28/2013

(ELIZABETHTOWN, KY) -- On Thursday, June 27, 2013 at approximately 7:35 p.m. ET Post 4 received a call of an injury crash near the 128 mile marker on the Western Kentucky Parkway. Tpr. Josh Cummings responded and learned that a 6-year-old female had been ejected from a vehicle. His preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Acura was eastbound on the WK Parkway. The operator, Joshua Farrar of Indianapolis, IN stated that he swerved to avoid debris in the roadway. Farrar entered the median, over corrected and crossed over the eastbound lanes. He left the roadway on the eastbound side and struck a tree with the passenger side rear door. The Acura came to final rest in the ditch line facing north. It appeared that the 6-year-old, Mya Farrar, was ejected through the back window upon impact with the tree. Joshua Farrar, Mya's father, stated that she was in a seat belt, but not a booster seat. However, there was evidence that indicated that the seat belt where Mya was sitting was not buckled. There was also no evidence of debris in the roadway located at the scene. Farrar's 10-year-old son was also in the car, but was not injured. Joshua Farrar was charged with Possession of a Suspended Operator's License, No Insurance, and a Booster Seat Violation. Mya Farrar was airlifted from the scene and is listed in stable, but critical condition at Kosair's Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
