Carroll County Man Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle

(Carrollton, KY) - A Carroll County man was killed last night (10/8) after being struck by a vehicle in Carrollton. Preliminary investigation shows that Michael Beach, 27 years old from Carrollton, KY, was walking on Highway 227 around 9:00 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 24 year old James Wilhoite of Carrollton, KY. Wilhoite's vehicle struck Beach after the vehicle crossed the white line on the right side of the road. Wilhoite left the scene and parked the vehicle in an adjacent parking lot. Beach was transported by Carroll County EMS to Carroll County Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by the Henry County Coroner. Wilhoite was later apprehended and charged with Manslaughter 2nd and DUI. He was lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.

Detective Tim Moore is leading the ongoing investigation and is being assisted by Trooper Brandon Maupin, an accident reconstrucionist. Detective Moore was assisted at the scene by the Carrollton Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Carroll County EMS, and Carroll County Rescue.
