Indiana Resident apprehended following a KSP Investigation in Richmond

(Richmond, KY) - On Sunday, September 29, 2013, at approximately 2:47 pm EDT, the Kentucky State Police Richmond Post was notified of a road rage complaint occurring on I-75 in Northern Madison County. The complaint alleged a white male operating a black passenger car was driving recklessly and passing cars in the emergency lane. A witness to the alleged erratic driving behavior attempted to gather information identifying the operator of the suspect vehicle. While doing so, the operator of the suspect vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun at the witness and may have also fired at least one round in the direction of the witness.

On Monday, September 30, the Kentucky State Police identified the suspect. KSP Trooper Charles Brandenburg obtained an arrest warrant for Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. The suspect was believed to be in Indiana. Indiana State Police personnel were contacted to assist in locating the suspect.

Indiana State Police executed an arrest warrant on Perrin T. Dobyns for Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree on September 30, 2013 at 3:00 pm EDT. Mr. Dobyns, 51 years of age of Corydon, Indiana, was located while working at the Branchville Correctional Facility in Branchville, Indiana. Mr. Dobyns has been lodged at the Perry County Jail in Indiana and will be extradited to Kentucky where he will be officially charged.

The case is currently under investigation by Trooper Charles Brandenburg. He was assisted by troopers from KSP Richmond Post, the Indiana State Police Jasper District, and the Branchville Correctional Facility.
