May Activity with June Checkpoint

(Morehead, KY) -- Kentucky State Police at Post 8 Morehead announce the final traffic and criminal activity report for May 2013. During May Post 8 personnel issued 2,158 total citations. Of those citations, 45 were for DUI, 220 were for Speeding, 219 for No Seat Belt, and 22 for Child Restraint violations. In addition, there were 2,796 Vehicle Inspections and 339 Courtesy Notices issued. Post 8 also investigated 61 Traffic Collisions, including two fatality collisions; one occurred in Wolfe County and one occurred in Fleming County. Post 8 personnel also investigated 1364 Complaints. A total of 96 Criminal Cases were opened and 304 Criminal Arrests were made for the month of May 2013.

Additionally, Captain Brian Bowling, Commander of the Kentucky State Police at Morehead, announces Troopers of the Morehead Post will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in addition to Moving Patrols throughout the Post 8 area during the entire month of June as well as the remainder of the year 2013. Motorists are urged to be cautious and obey reduced speeds through road construction zones.

This concentrated enforcement effort will utilize Troopers and Detectives assigned to and working the Morehead post area. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) will also be utilized. They will focus on enforcing violations of Speeding, No Seat Belt, Child Restraint, Impaired Driving Laws, and Texting While Driving, as well as other violations of the Traffic Laws of Kentucky.
