October Activity with November Checkpoint

(Morehead, KY) - Kentucky State Police at Post 8 Morehead announce the final traffic and criminal activity report for October 2013. During October, Post 8 personnel issued 1,189 total citations. Of those citations, 30 were for DUI, 223 were for Speeding, 133 for No Seat Belt, and 8 for Child Restraint violations. In addition, there were 1,594 Vehicle Inspections and 344 Courtesy Notices issued. Post 8 also investigated 75 Traffic Collisions, including one fatal collision; which was a pedestrian that occurred in Bath County. Post 8 personnel also investigated 1,318 Complaints. A total of 82 Criminal Cases were opened and 323 Criminal Arrests were made for October of 2013.
Additionally, Captain Brian Bowling, Commander of the Kentucky State Police at Morehead, announces Troopers of the Morehead Post will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in addition to Moving Patrols throughout the Post 8 area during the entire month of November as well as the remainder of the year 2013. A special emphasis will be placed on Speeding, DUI, Seat Belt and Child Restraint violations during the Thanksgiving Holiday period. Motorists are urged to be cautious and obey reduced speeds through road construction zones.
This concentrated enforcement effort will utilize Troopers and Detectives assigned to and working the Morehead post area. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) will also be utilized. They will focus on enforcing violations of Speeding, No Seat Belt, Child Restraint, Impaired Driving Laws, and Texting While Driving, as well as other violations of the Traffic Laws of Kentucky.
