New Troopers Assigned to Post 8 Morehead

(Morehead, KY) - The Kentucky State Police added four new Troopers to the ranks at Post 8 Morehead. These Troopers graduated from Kentucky State Police Class #91 on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. The graduation and commissioning ceremony of 62 new Troopers was held in Frankfort, KY. Their addition to the force brings the agency's strength to a total of 880 troopers serving the citizens of the Commonwealth. They started a 23-week training cycle on June 9, 2013 in a class that consisted of 87 cadets. Twenty-five resigned during the weeks of mental and physical challenges that followed.
The training included more than 1,000 hours of classroom and field study in subjects such as constitutional law, juvenile and traffic law, use of force, weapons training, defensive tactics, first aid, high speed vehicle pursuit, criminal investigation, computer literacy, hostage negotiations, evidence collection, radio procedures, search and seizure, crash investigation, drug identification, traffic control, crowd control, armed robbery response, land navigation, electronic crimes, sex crimes, hate crimes, domestic violence, bomb threats and hazardous materials.
The following is a list of the new troopers, their duty assignments and their hometowns or residences:
Trooper Brandon S. Burton, Unit 335 from Mt. Sterling, KY is assigned to Elliott and Morgan Counties.
Trooper Todd M. Coleman, Unit 798 from Mt. Sterling, KY is assigned to Bath, Montgomery and Menifee Counties.
Trooper Bryantt A. Furman, Unit 752 from Morehead, KY is assigned to Rowan County.
Trooper Luke A. Goodwin, Unit 394 from Paris, KY is assigned to Elliott and Morgan Counties.
