November Activity with December Checkpoint

(Morehead, KY) - Kentucky State Police at Post 8 Morehead announce the final traffic and criminal activity report for November 2013. During November, Post 8 personnel issued 1,764 total citations. Of those citations, 18 were for DUI, 294 were for Speeding, 119 for No Seat Belt, and 5 for Child Restraint violations. In addition, there were 1,259 Vehicle Inspections and 352 Courtesy Notices issued. Post 8 also investigated 70 Traffic Collisions, including two fatal collisions. A double pedestrian fatality occurred in Morgan County and a double fatality collision in Bath County. Post 8 personnel also investigated 1,070 Complaints. A total of 68 Criminal Cases were opened and 232 Criminal Arrests were made for November of 2013.

Additionally, Captain Brian Bowling, Commander of the Kentucky State Police at Morehead, announces Troopers of the Morehead Post will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in addition to Moving Patrols throughout the Post 8 area during the entire month of December as well as the remainder of the year 2013. A special emphasis will be placed on Speeding, DUI, Seat Belt and Child Restraint violations during the Christmas Holiday period. Motorists are urged to be cautious and obey reduced speeds through road construction zones.

This concentrated enforcement effort will utilize Troopers and Detectives assigned to and working the Morehead post area. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) will also be utilized. They will focus on enforcing violations of Speeding, No Seat Belt, Child Restraint, Impaired Driving Laws, and Texting While Driving, as well as other violations of the Traffic Laws of Kentucky.
