Morehead Woman Struck By a Vehicle on KY 377

(Morehead, KY) - On December 28, 2013 at 06:26 p.m. Kentucky State Police Morehead, received a call from Rowan County Dispatch Center in reference to a vehicle striking a pedestrian approximately 12 miles north of Morehead on KY 377. Trooper Mary Drilling, Trooper Brent Sparks, Trooper Bryantt Furman, Trooper Scott Caudill, Cranston Fire Department, and Rowan County EMS responded to the scene. Joshua Cooper, 26, of Morehead was traveling north, operating a 2000 Chevrolet Pickup on KY 377. Ms. Brooke Justice, 23, of Morehead was walking south on KY 377 in the northbound lane when she was struck by Mr. Cooper. Ms. Justice was stabilized on scene by Rowan County EMS, then airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Ms. Justice sustained incapacitating injuries as a result of the collision and is listed in critical condition. Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Mary Drilling.
