Harlan County Copper Theft Arrest

(Cumberland, Ky.) - Detectives with Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan made an arrest in a series of copper wire thefts that have occurred in the Cumberland community of Harlan County. On May 7, 2014 Detective Jason Joseph arrested Timothy Shepherd, 34, from Cumberland and charged him with Theft by Unlawful Taking and Criminal Mischief 1st degree. The thefts occurred at an Appalachian Wireless cell phone tower site over the past few weeks. On May 3, a portion of the stolen copper was recovered after officers located Shepherd at a residence stripping the wire. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for Mr. Shepherd. He is being lodged in the Harlan Counter Detention Center. KSP Detectives Craig Miller and Josh Howard assisted in the investigation.
