KSP Involved Shooting in Harlan County

(Harlan, Ky.) - On May 9, 2014 Kentucky State Police responded to the Dollar General Store in the Coldiron community of Harlan County on a complaint of an Armed Robbery. Upon the Troopers arrival it was discovered that Mr. Neil Saylor had entered the Dollar General Store, brandished a hand gun, and demanded money. Felony warrants for Armed Robbery and Wanton Endangerment were brought against Mr. Saylor by the Kentucky State Police. When Troopers found Mr. Saylor he was armed with a hand gun and refused to comply with the Troopers orders to drop the weapon. A stand-off ensued for several hours. Kentucky State Police Special Response Team responded to the scene. Mr. Saylor became aggressive toward Troopers and deadly force was used against Mr. Saylor.

Mr. Saylor was taken to the state medical examiners office in Frankfort for a pending autopsy. A Kentucky State Police Shoot Team has responded to the scene to investigate the incident.
