Death Investigation in Clay County

Date of News Release: 04/18/2014

(LONDON, KY.) - On Thursday, April 17, 2014, at approximately 7:30 AM the Kentucky State Police Post 11, in London was notified by the Clay County 911 Center of a shooting that occurred in the woods off HWY 638 in Clay County.

Troopers arrived and through an investigation learned that Brian Griffin, 28, of Manchester, Jason Roberts, 21, of Manchester and Chad Bullock, 21, of Manchester went into a wooded area turkey hunting. It is believed that an unknown hunter was in the same area and fired in the direction of the three (3) men striking two of the three men.

Griffin was transported to Saint Joseph-London Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Roberts was flown from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries.

Bullock suffered no injuries.

There are no suspects or persons of interest and anyone with any information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police Post 11 at 606-878-6622.

KSP Detective Jeff Senters is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Josh Wilson, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Clay County EMS.
