Fatal Traffic Crash in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY.) - On Thursday, June 05, 2014 at approximately 8:00 AM, the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of two vehicle traffic crash involving a fatality on the Cumberland Gap Parkway in Laurel County.

Upon arrival Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Trooper Eric Moore determined that a 1999, Toyota Camry, operated by Willard H. Eaton, 77, of Corbin was pulling out from a parking lot just off the Cumberland Gap Parkway and pulled into the path of 1999, Chevrolet Suburban, traveling west bound operated by Christopher L. Davis, 27, of Guntersville, Alabama.

Eaton was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was transported to the Baptist Health Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Davis was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

No drug or alcohol usage was suspected.

Trooper Moore is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by Trooper Michelle Lunsford, Laurel County EMS and the West Knox Fire Department.
