Fatal Traffic Crash in Wayne County

(LONDON, KY.) – On Saturday, September 20, 2014 at approximately 11:23 PM, the Kentucky State Police Post 11 London, received a report of fatal motorcycle crash on KY 696 in Wayne County.

Upon arrival Trooper Adam Childress determined that a 2010 Thoroughbred Stallion Trike motorcycle, operated by George D. Matz II, 65, of Auburndale, Florida was traveling southbound when it dropped off the shoulder of the roadway and overturned ejecting both the operator and passenger.

George Matz was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner's Office.

The passenger Cherry Matz was airlifted from the scene and transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where she is being treated for her injuries.

Both operator and passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Trooper Childress is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne County EMS and the Susie Fire Department.
