Stolen Ambulance Recovered in Shelby County
(Frankfort, KY) - On June 24, 2014 around 10:54 P.M., Kentucky State Police responded to the theft of an American Medical Response (AMR) Ambulance transporting a patient from Patty A Clay Hospital, Richmond, KY, to Our Lady of Peace, Louisville, KY.
During transport, the patient became combative, overpowering EMS workers, leaving them on the side of I64W near the 48 mm, in Franklin County.
Approximately ten minutes later, Kentucky State Police and Shelby County Sheriff's Department apprehended the subject at a nearby truck stop off of I 64W near the 43mm.
No individuals were injured during the incident. The ambulance sustained minor damage.
The patient was transported to the University of Louisville for evaluation.
Kentucky State Police were assisted by Shelby County Sheriff's Department, East 60 Fire Department, Waddy Fire Department, and Shelby County EMS.
