Semi Collision Causes Extended Shutdown of I64E in Shelby County

(Frankfort, KY) - On Monday December 1, 2014 at approximately 09:42 A.M., Kentucky State Police responded to a single vehicle non-injury collision which occurred on I64 W at the 45 mile marker.

A 2007 Freightliner Tractor Trailer, driven by Lennylee Gordon, of Norcross, GA, hydroplaned, causing his vehicle to veer into the median area of the roadway, the vehicle then veered back across the roadway striking a guardrail on the right shoulder of the road. The tractor trailer came to rest in the eastbound lanes. The tractor trailer was empty. During the collision, a diesel tank began to leak. Emergency crews were able to clean up the spill.

The driver sustained minor injuries in the incident.

The effected roadway was closed for approximately three hours for cleanup.

Assisting KSP at the scene was East 60 Fire Department, Shelby County Emergency Management, Shelby County EMS, Kentucky Transportation Department.

The collision investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 12.
