Knott County Man Dies While Clearing Snow from a Driveway

(Emmalena, KY) - On Thursday, February 13, 2014, at approximately 9:25a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call reporting that a male subject had been found in a creek, trapped under an ATV. KSP, Trans Star Ambulance, and Fisty Rescue Squad responded to Cherokee Drive, in the Emmalena community of Knott County.
Initial investigation determined that Carlos M. Craft, age 73 of Emmalena, was plowing snow from a steep inclined, private driveway, when the ATV he was riding overturned. The ATV came to rest in the nearby creek, trapping Mr. Craft underneath. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Knott County Coroner Jeff Blair. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Post 13 in Hazard.
