Date of News Release: 11/05/2014

(Lost Creek, KY) - A Breathitt County pedestrian was fatally injured Tuesday evening after being struck by an oncoming vehicle in the Lost Creek community of Breathitt County. Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call at approximately 6:00 p.m., advising of a collision on KY 476, and of a man being seriously injured. Troopers with KSP and McIntosh EMS responded to the scene.

It was initially determined that Noah Glenn Campbell, age 34 of Lost Creek, was walking along Highway 476, and was attempting to cross to the opposite side of the roadway. Mr. Campbell stepped into the westbound lane of the roadway just as a 2004 Ford Taurus came around a curve in the same lane. The car, which was driven by 20 year old Michael Fugate of Jackson, collided with Noah Campbell. Noah Campbell was pronounced deceased at the scene by Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith. Michael Fugate was not injured.

Trooper David Hobbs with KSP Post 13 is actively investigating this collision. Impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor at this time, though toxicology results are pending on those involved. There have been no arrests made related to this incident.
