DUI Injury Collision on KY 54 in Daviess County

Henderson, KY - Owensboro Police Officer Jackson was off duty and traveling from the Whitesville area to Owensboro when he observed a suspecious vehicle parked on Windy Hill Road. Officer Jackson stopped and approached the vehicle and upon the approach the vehicle fled from Officer Jackson and turned onto KY 54. Officer Jackson then initiated his emergency lights and followed the 1995 Jeep Cherokee on KY 54. Mr. Layne then turned off his headlights in attempt to evade Officer Jackson. Offficer Jackson then lost site of Mr. Layne, and terminated his emergency lights. Officer Jackson then observed the vehicle wrecked on KY 54 just west of Sawmill Road. Chasity Knight was a passenger in the vehicle, and was taken to Owensboro Regional Health Hospital, and treated for minor injuries. William Layne was taken into custody by KSP, and charged with DUI 1st, Fleeing and Evading Police 2nd degree, and Failure to Maintain Insurance 1st. William Layne was lodged at Daviess County Detection Center.
