Vehicle Check Leads to Driver's Arrest

(Hickory, KY) – A stranded motorist was jailed Wednesday after an investigation by Kentucky State Police. Just before 10:00 AM on April 23rd, Trooper Jody Cash stopped to assist what he believed to be a stranded motorist on highway 45 North in Graves County. Upon making contact with Sonya E. Hobbs, Trooper Cash detected that the operator of the vehicle might be under the influence of an illegal substance. Hobbs granted Troopers consent to search her vehicle where they located suspected methamphetamine as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia. Forty-nine year old Hobbs was arrested for Driving Under the Influence 1st Offense, Failure to Notify DOT of Address Change, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. KSP was assisted by Graves County Sheriff Department and Mayfield PD K9. The investigation continues by Trooper Jody Cash.
