(Mayfield, KY) - Derek Hopkins succumbed to his injuries on 6/11/14 at 7:58 p.m. from injuries received in this accident.


Two Injured in a Collision on KY 58 in Graves County

Date of News Release: 06/06/2014

(Mayfield, KY) - On Thursday, June 6, 2014 at approximately 1720 hours, Charles Bunton was operating a 2007 Honda Accord eastbound on KY 58 when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto KY 131. Bunton did not see Derek Hopkins traveling westbound on KY 58 on his 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Hopkins was unable to avoid the collision and struck the passenger side door of Bunton's vehicle causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle. Hopkins was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The severity of Hopkins injuries are unknown at this time and was treated on scene by Mayfield Fire Department and EMS. Hopkins was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Bunton was treated at the scene and released. He later went to Jackson Purchase Medical Facility with non-life threatening injuries. Trooper Smith was assisted at the scene by the Graves County Sheriff's Department and Graves County Fire Rescue.
