KSP works Fatality in Fulton County

(Fulton, KY) - The Kentucky State Police responded to a fatal vehicle collision on July 15, 2014 at approximately 10:34 A.M. The two vehicle collision occurred approximately 1 mile north of Fulton on US 45.

Preliminary investigation shows Matthew G. Morris, 20 of Lavinia, TN, operating a 2000 Chevrolet S10 pickup traveling south on US 45. For an unknown reason, Morris traveled across the opposite lane of travel, running off the roadway. Morris attempted to regain control of his vehicle and cross back into his lane, however, he overcorrected and became sideways in the roadway. Morris was struck by a 2011 Kia van driven by Clarence M. Ramsey, 87 of Wingo, who was traveling north on US 45. Mary F. Ramsey was a passenger in the van, driven by her husband.

Morris was ejected during the collision and pronounced dead on the scene by the Fulton County Coroner's Office. The Ramsey's were air lifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. due to their injuries. It is believed that all occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Kentucky State Police was assisted on the scene by the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, Fulton City Police Department, Hickman County Sheriff's Department, Tri City Ambulance Service, Fulton City Fire Department, Fulton County Coroner's Office, Air Evac, KSP Collision Reconstructionist SGT Joey Adams and KSP Collision Reconstructionist Trooper Jody Cash. Trooper Cash is continuing his investigation into the collision.
