Fancy Farm Man Killed in a Collision on KY 1748

Hickory, KY. - Herbert D. Steppe was traveling east on KY 1748 East when his passenger side wheels dropped off the side of the roadway causing the cargo in the truck to shift. He was unable to guide the truck back onto the road and continued to slide further off the east side of the roadway. The truck overturned and came to final rest on its top. The passenger (Harley D. Hinshaw) was secured with a seatbelt and was able to crawl out of a window. Mr. Steppe, who was not belted, had to be extricated from the vehicle. Mr. Steppe was pronounced at the scene by Graves County Coroner Phillip McClain. Trooper Anthony Harrison was assisted on scene by Trooper Alison Ramsey, Graves County Sheriff Office, Mayfield-Graves County EMS, Mayfield Graves County Fire & Rescue and Wingo Fire Department. Traffic on KY 1748 was rerouted for approximately 1 1/2 hours.
