KSP arrests Canton Resident for Cultivating Marijuana

(Canton, KY) - Kentucky State Police units were conducting aerial surveillance in Trigg County, as part of the Governor's Marijuana Strike Force. They observed several marijuana plants growing behind the residence of Salvador Tanner Alvarez 22, on Sam Downs Road near Canton. Trooper Michael Robichaud arrived on the scene, and located 4 marijuana plants ranging from 5 to 7 feet tall being cultivated to the rear of the property. Trooper Robichaud also located an indoor marijuana grow in Mr. Alvarez's residence. A total of 6 additional hydroponic marijuana plants and over 1 1/2lbs of processed marijuana was located inside the residence along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Alvarez was charged with Cultivating Marijuana 5 plants or more, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Governor's Marijuana Strike Force is a federally funded project. In 2013 the strike force eradicated 444,871 marijuana plants and made 408 arrests. Anyone with drug information can call 1-800-DOPE-TIP and remain anonymous.
