Injury Collision Involving Mowing Tractor On The Pennyrile Parkway

Slaughters, KY (Webster County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated an injury collision that occurred on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, at approximately the 57 mile-marker, on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 4:50 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Henry Wall, 81, of Clarksville, TN, was operating a 2014 Toyota 4-Runner northbound on the parkway when he failed to see a mowing tractor that was also traveling northbound. The tractor was operated by Jose Garcia, 42, of Batesville, IN, who was part of the mowing crew working on the parkway. The tractor was in the process of crossing a bridge at the 57 mile-marker in order to continue mowing the median when it was struck from behind.

Mr. Wall was transported by PHI to St. Mary's in Evansville for treatment. Mr. Garcia did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision. Both operators were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Nathan Craft investigated the collision. Trooper Bob Winters, the Webster County Sheriff's Department, Webster County EMS, Sebree Fire, and PHI assisted at the scene.
