Single Vehicle Injury Collision On KY 1379

Central City, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 1379, approximately five miles north of Central City, on Friday, October 17, 2014, at 12:00 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that James E. Casebier, 64, of Central City, was operating a 1979 International (farm/grain truck) northbound on KY 1379 when the passenger's side tires dropped off the roadway. Mr. Casebier overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. It crossed the centerline and exited the roadway where it struck a ditch and came to rest.

Mr. Casebier, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was treated at the scene by Muhlenberg County EMS and PHI Air Medical. He was then flown via PHI to St. Mary's in Evansville, IN. for treatment.

Trooper Jerry Knight investigated the collision. Trooper Jerrod Hearld, the Central City Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, and PHI Air Medical assisted at the scene.
