Two Vehicle Injury Collision On KY 181

Midland, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 181, in Midland, on Friday, November 14, 2014, at 8:10 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Calvin E. Latham, 69, of Bremen, was operating a 1998 Lincoln Continental northbound on KY 181. Chelsea A. Capps, 18, of Central City, was operating a 2014 Ford Focus. Ms. Capps was attempting to make a left turn from KY 2584 onto KY 181.

Ms. Capps turned left into the path of Mr. Latham's vehicle and the two vehicles collided on the roadway. Ms. Capps' vehicle came to rest on the roadway. Mr. Latham's vehicle exited the left side of the roadway and came to rest in a ditch upright.

Ms. Capps and Mr. Latham were transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. There were no passengers involved.

Trooper First Class Jerry Knight investigated the collision. Trooper First Class Jerrod Hearld, the Bremen Volunteer Fire Department, the Central City Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
