Fatal Collision on I65 in Warren County

(Bowling Green, KY) - On Friday, January 17, 2014, at 12:17 P.M., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to the 19 mile point on I65 regarding a fatal collision.
According to Kentucky State Police Sergeant Derek Grant, a female, (name not being released at this time pending family notification) was traveling north on I65 when her vehicle veered off the right shoulder of the roadway and overturned.
Prior to the collision, Franklin Police Department received a call regarding a welfare check at the Wendy's in Franklin. The vehicle that the female was driving had been parked in the back lot of Wendy's for over a week. When officers arrived, the female became very uncooperative and would not provide any identification and she refused to show the officers her hands. The female ignored the officer's commands and drove off. The officers attempted to stop the female, however she entered I65 northbound. The Franklin Police Officers terminated their pursuit after the female ramped on to I65. Officers with the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement attempted to stop the female as she traveled north on I65.
The female once again ignored the officer's emergency equipment and continued north on I65 driving at high rate of speed and driving in a reckless manner. The female lost control of her vehicle around the 19 mile point of I65. The female was pronounced dead on the scene by the Warren County Coroner's Office.
The investigation is still ongoing and is being led by Sergeant Derek Grant. Sgt Grant was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police Post 3 Personnel. The operator's name is not being released pending family notification.
