Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Arrest in Simpson County

(Bowling Green, KY) - On Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 9:15 a.m., Trooper Jason Lanham received a phone call of a possible intoxicated driver on I-65. While taking the phone complaint, the caller witnessed a vehicle sideswipe a tractor trailer around the six mile-marker. This vehicle failed to stop and continued northbound on I-65. Trooper Lanham located the vehicle at the 11 mile-marker and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle in question was a 2006 Honda Accord operated by Heather Ennis of Bowling Green. Also inside the vehicle, was Mrs. Ennis seven year old child. Mrs. Ennis was found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Through investigation, it was determined that Mrs. Ennis was in route to Potter Gray Elementary to drop her child off at school, but because of her physical state got lost and ended up on I-65 in Simpson County.
Mrs. Ennis was arrested for DUI 1st Offense(aggravated circumstances), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Leaving scene of accident, Following another vehicle too closely and Failure to Produce Insurance card.
Mrs. Ennis was transported to the Medical Center to get medically cleared and then lodged in the Simpson County Jail. The juvenile was released to her father.
