Hodgenville Man Arrested For Stealing Tractor

(STEPHENSBURG, KY.) - On Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at approximately 4:38 P.M. EST, Kentucky State Police Post 04 received a call in regards to an unknown man running down U.S. 62 (Leitchfield Rd.) in Stephensburg. The caller stated that the man said that someone was chasing him. Troopers were dispatched to the area and were unable to locate the man in question.

At approximately 5:05 P.M a resident on Morrison Lane called Post 4 and reported her tractor had been stolen by a white male that matched the description of the earlier call. Toopers then observed the subject on the tractor, traveling through a field between Ky. 1375 and Ky. 222. The perpetrator then exited the tractor and attempted to hide in a grain bin located nearby. He was then located and apprehended. Barry Martin (22) of Hodgenville, Ky. was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Oper Mtr. Vehicle U/Influence Alc/Drugs/Etc. .08 – 1st Off., Criminal Trespass–3rd Degree, Burglary–3rd Degree, TBUT Or Disp Farm Equip $10,000 Or More But U/$1,000,000, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Fleeing Or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Fleeing Or Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot), Resisting Arrest, Receiving Stolen Property Over $500, and Theft Of Identity.

Mr. Martin was also served with outstanding warrants from Barren, Metcalfe, and Larue Counties. Further investigations after placing Mr. Martin in custody revealed that he had also stolen another vehicle earlier in the day from Flaherty, Ky. It was recovered in the area. KSP was assisted by the Hardin Co. Sheriff's Office. Tpr. Brad Riley is handling the Investigation.
