Indiana Man Arrested for Sexual Offenses Involving Minors

Date of News Release: 10/03/2014

(Campbellsburg, KY) - An Indiana man turned himself in to Troopers at Kentucky State Police Post 5 today after being indicted on charges of using electronic devices to try to lure minors to have sex with him. Zachary Shearer, 21 years old from Clarksville, IN, was indicted earlier today by the Trimble County Grand Jury. The indictment comes after an investigation showed Shearer allegedly sent nude pictures himself to three juvenile females in Trimble County. Shearer also requested nude pictures from the females and tried to persuade them into having sex with him. On two occasions, Shearer drove to Trimble County and went to the homes of the victims.

Shearer was charged with three counts of Prohibited Use of Electronic Communication System to Procure a Minor for Sexual Contact/Offenses. Shearer is already a registered sex offender in Indiana and has an upcoming trial in Clarksville, IN on more sex related charges.

Shearer was lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center. Trooper Todd Harwood is leading the ongoing investigation.
