One Killed in Trimble County Crash

(Bedford, KY) - One person was killed today (12/20) in a single vehicle crash around the 1900 block of Highway 42 East in Trimble County. Kentucky State Police dispatchers received a call of the crash at 2:11 this morning. Preliminary investigation shows that Kayla N. Jackson, 20 years old from Bedford, KY, was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by Kyle D. Hawkins, 18 years old from Bedford, KY. Hawkins was traveling on US 42 approximately 1.5 miles East of Bedford and left the roadway striking a tree. Hawkins was transported to Baptist Hospital in La Grange with minor injuries. Jackson, who was 20 weeks pregnant and wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Trimble County Coroner. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision. An autopsy will be completed later this date by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Trooper Barrett Brewer is leading the ongoing investigation. Trooper Brewer was assisted at the scene by Trooper Matthew Whalen, Trimble County Coroner, Bedford Fire Department, Milton Fire Department, and Trimble County EMS.
