Campton Man Killed in a Collision on KY 205 in Wolfe County

(Morehead, KY) - On Sunday, February 09th 2014 at 07:48 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a report of a single vehicle injury accident on Kentucky 205 in Wolfe County, near Shocky Fork Road. Trooper Brett Kirkland, Trooper Jason Brown, Trooper Joseph Zalone, Hazel Green Fire Department and Aarrowmed EMS responded to the scene. James Smith, 20, of Campton was operating a 1996, Dodge Ram Pickup truck, traveling north on Kentucky 205. Mr. Smith drove off the roadway and over-corrected striking a utility pole, causing Mr. Smith to be ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by Wolfe county coroner, Frank Porter. Passenger, Lisa Perkins, 19, of West Liberty, was transported to Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Kentucky where she is listed in stable condition. Seatbelt restraints was not in use. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Brett Kirkland.
