Rowan County Injury Collision

(Morehead, KY) - On Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11:58 P.M. Kentucky State Police in Morehead were contacted by the Morehead Police dispatch and asked to respond to a possible injury accident in the area of the 6500 block of Lower Licking Road near Farmers, Kentucky. Trooper Stephen Mirus, Trooper Bryant Furman, Farmers Fire Department, and Rowan County EMS responded to the scene. Jeffery Caldwell, 24 of Morehead, was operating a 1999 Ford Taurus east on Lower Licking Road when he left the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Caldwell overcorrected causing his vehicle to overturn multiple times and skid to a final rest on its top in the roadway. Mr. Caldwell left the scene of the accident, but was located shortly after at his residence on Bluebank Road. Mr. Caldwell was transported by Rowan EMS to St. Claire Medical Center and then flown to UK Hospital by PHI air services. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the accident. Charges on Jeffery Caldwell are pending at this time. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Stephen Mirus.
