Date of News Release: 06/26/2015
(Ashland, KY) -- At approximately 5:15 a.m. on June 26, 2015, the Kentucky State Police in Ashland responded to a two vehicle collision on Interstate 64 at the 167 mile marker. A vehicle operated by Beth Ann Thompson (49 yoa) of Olive Hill, KY was traveling east on I-64 when it appears that she hydroplaned on the water covered roadway. After her vehicle came to a stop on the roadway, another vehicle struck her disabled vehicle. Ms. Thompson was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Carter County Coroner.
Seatbelts were in use by all occupants, and drug or alcohol use does not appear to be a factor.
The collision is still under investigation by Trooper Forrest Newsome. The Kentucky State Police was assisted on the scene by the Carter County EMS, Grayson Fire Department, and the Kentucky Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
