Assault Arrest in Carter County

Date of News Release: 10/27/2015

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating a shooting that occurred Friday, October 23, 2015 at approximately 6:06 pm at a residence on Greenbriar Road in Carter County, KY. Troopers responded to the residence after Carter County 911 received a report from Doug Evans advising his son, Frank Evans, had been shot. Post 14 Troopers arrived at the Evans residence and located Frank Evans, age 31, of Olive Hill, injured with a single gunshot wound to the face. Frank Evans was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment. He is currently listed in stable but critical condition.

During the course of the investigation it was determined Doug Evans was responsible for the shooting.

Doug Evans, age 54, was arrested, lodged in the Carter County Detention Center and charged with the following:

  • Assault 1st Degree
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of Marijuana

The following agencies responded and assisted during the course of the investigation: Carter County EMS and Olive Hill Fire Department.

Case remains under investigation by Detective Jeff Kelley.
