Explosive device located in Albany, KY

(Albany, KY.) - On Saturday, April 4, 2015 at approximately 10:30pm, Post 15 received an anonymous tip of a possible pipe bomb in a silver Chevrolet pickup parked at the Shell convenience gas station in Albany. Upon the arrival of Trooper Jason Warinner and Trooper Brian Gibson, a vehicle matching this description was located in the parking lot. A juvenile driver was sitting behind the steering wheel of the truck. A search of the vehicle resulted in locating a homemade pipe bomb. The Kentucky State Police Hazardous Device Units responded to the scene and rendered the device safe.
The juvenile was subsequently cited for DUI. The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Jason Warinner.
