Mercer County Man Charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st of Police Officer

(Springfield, KY) - 31-year-old Melvin L. Ison, of Harrodsburg, was arrested on Monday, November 24, 2015 at approximately 11:07 PM EDT and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st of a Police Officer. At 4:39 PM EDT, Post 15 was notified by the Washington County Dispatch that Washington County Deputy Sheriff, Charlie Osbourn, responded to a call of suspicious vehicles and possible drug activity on Murray Lane. Upon arrival, Deputy Osbourn observed 2 pickup trucks and asked 2 passengers to exit one of the trucks. The operator of the 2nd truck fled the scene in his vehicle, almost striking Deputy Osborn, who fired his weapon at the vehicle.
The truck was later located abandoned in Harrodsburg and it was learned that Melvin Ison had been the operator. Ison was arrested in the limits of Harrodsburg without incident and lodged in the Marion County Detention Center. KSP Detective Jamie Richard is investigating.
