Two Vehicle Injury Collision Shuts Down KY 91

(Henderson, KY) - Ronald L. Merrick, 54 of Princeton, KY was operating his 2006 Volvo (bobtail) tractor-truck northbound on KY 91. James E. Vandiver, 51 of Madisonville, KY was also on KY 91 heading southbound. For an unknown reason, Merrick ran off the roadway and over corrected. His vehicle then entered the southbound lane colliding with Vandiver's 2006 Mack tri-axle dump truck, which was loaded with gravel.

Merrick was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. He operates for BGB Trucking INC of Princeton, KY.

Vandiver was transported to Caldwell County Hospital. He operates for Pleasant Excavating out of Nebo, KY.

The roadway was closed for over four hours due to a significant amount of fuel loss that required clean-up. Commuters were placed on a detour route of KY 139 and KY 70.

The Kentucky State Police Commercial Enforcement Division is currently investigating the collision.
