Two Vehicle Accident with Injury in Ohio County

(Henderson, KY) - On December 25, 2015 at approximately 6:33PM Kentucky State Police Post 16 Henderson responded to a two vehicle accident with injury at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62 West and 2nd Street in the limits of McHenry, KY in Ohio County. Upon investigation at the scene it was determined that Ms. Marie DePoorter of Beaver Dam, KY was operating a black 1997 Chevy Cavalier southbound on 2nd Street in McHenry and came to a stop at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62 West. Mr. Dean H. Cox of McHenry, KY was operating a blue 2008 Hyundai Accent westbound on U.S. Highway 62 West as he was approaching the intersection of 2nd Street Ms. DePoorter pulled out in front of Mr. Cox while attempting to make a left hand turn. Both subjects were unable to avoid the collision and Ms. DePoorter struck Mr. Cox's vehicle head on at the intersection. Ms. DePoorter was transported to Ohio County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Due to her injuries Ms. DePoorter was cited and released on a charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alc/Drugs/Etc .08 – 1st Offense which is suspected to have played a contributing factor in this collision.
