Single Vehicle Injury Collision On KY 81 Involving DUI

Bremen, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 81, approximately one mile south of Bremen, on Friday, January 9, at 7:15 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jeffrey Springer, 43, of Hopkinsville, was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Impala northbound on KY 81 when he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle veered off the right shoulder of the roadway. It crossed both lanes of travel, and exited the left shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle traveled down an embankment and struck several trees. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its top.

Mr. Springer was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital where he was treated and released. He was then lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center charged with DUI 1st Offense. His passenger, Jessie Jones (female), 27, of Central City, was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper First Class Jerrod Hearld investigated the collision. Trooper First Class Jerry Knight, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department, the Central City Police Department, the Bremen Volunteer Fire Department, the Central City Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
