Officer Involved Shooting In Madisonville

Madisonville, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in the city limits of Madisonville.
On Sunday, January 18, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the KSP Post 2 Madisonville was contacted by the Madisonville Police Department in reference to an officer involved shooting that occurred outside of Ferrell's Snappy Service located at 112 North Main Street in Madisonville.
At approximately 2:48 a.m., Hopkins County Central Dispatch received a call of a robbery at Ferrell's. At approximately 2:52 a.m., MPD Officers Justin L. Jones and Justin Crump arrived at the scene. Upon arriving, the officers confronted the suspect outside of Ferrell's as he was fleeing the scene on foot.
The suspect ignored the officers' commands to stop and aggressively moved towards them. At this time, Officer Jones discharged one round from his service weapon, striking the suspect.
The suspect was identified as Corey Puckett, 43, of Atlanta, GA. Mr. Puckett was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville where he is being treated for a non-life threatening injury.
There were no injuries to any employees or police officers. Pursuant to MPD policy, Officer Jones has been placed on paid, administrative leave.
KSP Sergeant Nick Rice is continuing the investigation. KSP Post 2 units, the Madisonville Police Department, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, Medical Center Ambulance Service, and the Madisonville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
