Single Vehicle Injury Collision On Cleaton Road

Powderly, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on Cleaton Road, approximately one mile east of Powderly, on Sunday, January 18, at 7:10 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Tayrn Mercer, 16, of Cleaton, was operating a 1989 Bronco II eastbound on Cleaton Road when the vehicle traveled over a patch of black ice causing her to lose control. The vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway and struck an embankment. It overturned and came to rest on the driver's side, partially on the roadway and partially in a ditch.

Ms. Mercer, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. There were no passengers involved.

Trooper First Class Jerry Knight investigated the collision. The Greenville Fire Department, Greenville Police Department, Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
