Update To Fatal Collision On US 62 East Of Princeton

Princeton, KY (Caldwell County) - On Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at approximately 12:37 p.m., Jason Whitney succumbed to his injuries and passed at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. The crash remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.

Fatal Collision on US 62

Date of News Release: 01/26/2015

Princeton, KY (Caldwell County) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle, fatality collision that occurred on US 62 (Dawson Road), east of Princeton, on Monday, January 26, 2015 at approximately 7:48 p.m.

A silver 2014 Ford Focus driven by Paul A. Loney, 25, of Princeton KY, was eastbound on Dawson Road when for an unknown reason the car exited the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and came a to final rest in a ravine.

Passenger Jason M. Whitney, 29, of Princeton, KY, was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. A second passenger, Alicia R. Cotton, 42, of Eddyville, KY, was flown to Skyline Medical Center for treatment. A third passenger, Courtney A. Flear, 19, of Princeton, KY, succumbed to her injuries on scene. Mr. Loney was taken to Caldwell County Hospital for treatment.

Trooper Ward is investigating the accident; the investigation is ongoing. Trooper Ward was assisted on scene by Sergeant Tim Sales, the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, the Princeton Fire Department and the Caldwell County Coroner's Office.
